Public bus

Public buses do exist in Windhoek, however, they are predominantly fulfilling the job of commuting transport between the outskirts of Windhoek and the city centre.

The "City of Windhoek Municipal Bus Service" was founded in 1958.

The approx. 60 buses are operated on only 11 routes and do not offer a lot of comfort. They are in average 20 years old, while some new buses are from the late 1990s. They are not made for disabled people at all.

A bus ticket costs N$ 6.00 per person per trip.

Bus routes are served between around 6:00 (6am) and 18:00h (6pm):

  • Olympia
  • Suiderhof
  • Snyman & JJJ
  • Windhoek-West
  • Pionierspark & Academia
  • Academia
  • Klein Windhoek & Avis
  • Robert Mugabe
  • Eros Park
  • Propsperita & Cimbebasia
  • Windhoek City Council
