The Windhoek Guide - Your Guide to Namibia's Capital

Motor-sport events, although not really on the competing level with the Formula 1, are happening frequently in and around Windhoek. They are mostly organised by the Namibia Motorsport Federation.

The most well known motor sport venue is the "Tony Rust Race Course" between Windhoek and the Daan Viljoen Game Reserve to the west. Events happening here are e.g. the very popular "Drag Race" with more than 3,000 spectators. An international event that took place here was the FIM Freestyle Moto-Cross World Championships in 2009. Another popular spot is the "Gallina Motocross Park" 15 km north of Windhoek towards Okahandja. Here all kind of motor-cross events, mostly organized by the Windhoek Motor-Cross Club are held. The recently (October 2010) opened Adrenalin-Park in Windhoek-Olympia is home for MX drivers.

A very special popular event are the frequent meetings of old timer cars in Windhoek. This is organised by the Old Wheelers Club of Namibia.

End of 2010 "Windhoek Go-Karting Entertainment" opened a short go-karting track on the outskirts of the city.
