The enthusiastic pilots can also enjoy their hobby in Windhoek. Different flying clubs and schools are located at Eros Airport. Namibia is a known paradise for pilots looking for good conditions on 330 days a year.

To charter one of the planes available at Eros, which are, by the way, mostly of Cessna type and do have powerful engines due to height and warm temperatures, the pilot needs to have a Namibian validation. For those that want to become a pilot, two training colleges in Windhoek offer everything from PPL to ATPL. The standard is very high and considered to be e.g. much better than the training in the USA. The training includes 40 total hours including at least 15 solo hours and a theoretical course of at least 120 hours. A Medical Class II as well as a theoretical and practical flight and a radio telephony test have to be passed in order to get the licence. One has to calculate with approx. N$ 100,000 for the whole course.
